Minutes of the annual meeting were distributed to board members present.
Treasurer's Report:
Bob Fos reported the Association has approximately $38,000 in
the checking account and $94,000 in savings.
Ann Kitzmiller reported that we are collecting delinquent association
dues if properties are sold through a broker or if a title company is used.
In order to cover all situations and to maintain consistency, it was decided
to continue filing liens after dues were in arrears for two yeas.
Old Business
Pool:
Bob Bowe reported on current problems with the pool. Ron removed about
80% of the black algae, however recoating may be necessary at the end of
the season. Bob will also look into pool beautification at the end
of the season.
To insure that a key must be used to open the pool gate, a metal plate
was put on the gate above the lock to keep people from reaching over and
unlocking the gate.
The pool is open every day 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Memorial Day weekend
to Labor Day. It was decided that the pool would be kept open on
Saturday and Sunday of each weekend in September if Ron agreed to this.
Problem Areas in Terramar:
Lloyd Pepper submitted a list of problem properties and problem areas
in need of repair in Terramar. Bill Aimone will use this list and
contact the City of Galveston about the properties. Bob Fos and Bob
Bowe would look at the properties in question and give their opinions to
Bill about the condition of the properties. Wanda Greer will submit
the list of needed repairs to the city. Wanda also emphasized the need
to call the police to document any disturbances or incidents so that there
would be a record of it.
CIAP Funding:
1. We have applied for $50,000 for beach access repair which
includes the walkovers and the rebuilding of the main entrance to the beach.
This would include a much better parking area, etc. We have submitted
a detailed plan on this and we are awaiting final approval
2. We have applied for additional (and better this time) sand
dune replenishment in the amount of $60,000. This has been approved.
Sinkhole:
Howard Cordell has volunteered to do the required bulldozer work.
A motion was made by Bob Bowe to approve $4,000 for the project of filling
the sinkhole, caused by sand removal for the beach restoration/dredging
project. Bill Aimone seconded. The motion carried.
New Business
Sewage Plant Beautification:
Cindy Rice will pursue money that the City of Galveston has set aside
for the beautification of the sewage plant. Wanda will also put this
on her list of items that need attention by the City of Galveston.
P&T Properties Adjacent to Terramar:
The Corps of Engineers has approved a permit for P&T Properties
to build 2 houses on the land adjacent to Terramar. Information submitted
by Katie Molina indicated that numerous agencies are opposed to this as
well as a group of Terramar residents. After a discussion, it was
decided that the TBCIA Board would not take a position on this matter at
this point.
